● Pa Guero- Suffered from Parkinson’s
- My grandpa had a box of Pan Dulce in the kitchen till he died.
- He would drink his coffee from a green mug when we were younger
- When my brother and I slept over at my grandma’s house, he would give us coffee and pan.
- My Pa Guero never gave up his ottoman looking chair. It was his favorite spot in the house.
- I got my curly hair from my great-grandma Eva
- I never met her before she died, my mom said Pedro Infante was her favorite singer.
- She was always making fresh tortillas for my grandma and mom according to my mother
- I would have wanted her to try some of my favorite snacks (the reason for the Nutella offering).
- I put a picture of my uncle’s cat Priscilla on the altar (she was the only cat I liked)
- My uncle gave me a stuffed dog before he passed. I placed the corn husk doll next to him to remind him I still have it.
- He was the first member of my dad’s family I had an instant connection with.
- The string connecting the offerings to the altar resembles my chaotic family history.
- The positioning of the Marigold petals is meant to represent how life and beauty connect us all.
- Flowers are a big part of my life and I love how I was finally able to acquire them.
- All offerings are my favorite college snacks (more authentic lol).
