Daniela Medina

I created this altar to honor my Tio John, my Apá and my abuelita (Amá).

My Amá loved flowers and took pride in her beautiful garden. As a child, I would play in the garden for hours allowing my imagination to roam free. Our family spent a lot of time hanging out on her porch surrounded by her flower pots. I wanted to incorporate the porch and steps because it was the place that brought us all together... My Amá played las mañanitas on her harmonica anytime there was a birthday and had a pet peacock that lived in her garden in Zamora, Michoacán. The sweets and other ofrendas are ones that they loved..
