Anamaria Morales

Creating my altar has been both a spiritual and rejuvenating process for me. Lately I have been feeling very anxious and it feels like my confidence has been lacking more than ever before. Family stress has subconsciously weighed me down – my heart is heavy with my family’s suffering . Along with my own life coming to crossroads, it feels as though I have to make big decisions constantly and I have not felt myself in awhile. Creating my recipe altar could not have come at a more perfect time. Whenever I feel stressed, I go and bake it out! This seems to be a family tradition of sorts – to cook and bake and share love through food. It has been an honor and a journey to search for forgotten family recipes, share stories with my grandparents, and recreate some of the foods that have brought my family together for generations. My hope is that through food, I will pay tribute to where and what I come from.
