My altar is dedicated to my abuelo, Rodolfo Mendoza, and my beloved childhood best friend and pet, Max. I recently lost Max during this year due to bone cancer, so I felt the necessity to honor him with this project. My grandpa is the closest relative I have that is deceased and I am grateful for everything that he accomplished for my family, so this altar is in dedication for him too. Sadly, I don’t have any physical bigger portraits of him within my possession--besides the tiny picture in the corner of the picture frame. To improvise I used my ipad to showcase a picture of a portrait of him. The plants and flowers on my altar are dedicated to my grandpa who loved plants and always worked within the agriculture business. I really wanted for my altar to be lively with colors. The papel picado, the flowers, and the serape were chosen to represent a variety of colors.
