Fatima Almalahi

My altar honors Dr. Jack Shaheen, who dedicated his career to call for justice and denied damaging stereotypes of Muslims and Arabs. By honoring Dr Shaheen, I am also honoring everyone who gave attention to any discrimination issue in this community and worked to spread awareness in various ways. In my altar, I included water, candles, Incense, Marigold flowers, a big rock, pictures of Dr. Jack Shaheen and also a scale. Scale represents justice which is the most important reason for choosing to honor Dr. Shaheen. It symbolized his aim behind all his hard work and the importance of remembering brave people like him. I also included a praying rug to represent the Muslims community who appreciate the work done by Dr Shaheen.
