Mariana Campos

This piece was intended to remember two special men in my life and who I did not get to know on a personal level. The butterflies reflect my migration story and also a way to reach back to ask my grandparents to come and pray to free me of an oppressive immigration system. I wanted the alter to reflect my younger self in a night of conversation with two men I loved very much and knew very little about. The reflection of a innocent childhood lost in search of better life and loss of ability to enjoy my grandparents. For this night, I invite my grandparents to visit me and interact among a canopy of nature and life with my inner child and spirit to help me heal and alleviate some of the weight of this world. I ask that they bless me with ancestral knowledge, strength and love to keep fighting. Les pido que me bendigan, manden amor, poder, conocimiento y resistencia para seguir en la Lucha. Con amor, su nieta que no me vieron crecer o conocer pero era amada. Mariana Campos Robles
