The process of making an altar was very meditative, and almost natural. Honoring our ancestors and those who have past requires nothing but patience, silence, and thoughts. In my everyday busy, bustling life my goal is to never take it slow, to be pensive and to think. It is go go go. Oftentimes I feel that I cannot keep up with this bustling, I would rather stay at places longer, give people more of a time of day, and reflect much more. In this process of honoring those who have passed, I felt as if I could do this and this was the right mentality to have when honoring those who are resting. Furthermore, I assisted in a community altar where family members, of multiple individuals, who have passed had a place in this altar. It was a pleasure being a part of a community altar where individuals could collectively honor their loved ones.
